On Monday June 1, 2026, Ida Kersz recorded her story for the Farkas Center’s Survivor Studio Project. The Survivor Studio Project combines first-hand testimony from Holocaust survivors and art to create a lasting memory. The Farkas Center works with survivors in the Bay Area to record their stories. Those recordings are then shown in classrooms. After the students hear the testimony, they look at portraits of the survivors and use those images to draw their own portrait of the survivor using basic materials and a light and shadow style of drawing.
Ida is the first survivor outside the Bay Area to record her story for the Farkas Center. Thanks to our relationship with the Farkas Center, the Spungen Foundation was able to introduce Ida to Adrian Schrek from Farkas. From there, they organized everything to have Ida’s story recorded. Ida’s recording will be shown in classrooms for many years to come.
