On Tuesday May 26, 2026 the Spungen Foundation was invited back to Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School in Chicago for the culmination of the 8th graders year long project. In November 2025, the Foundation exhibited at Bernard Zell for two days, invited by teacher Jeff Ellison. The 8th graders were tasked with first picking out three artifacts from our collection that interested them. From there, they had to narrow their selection down to one artifact to focus on. The students would spend their school year researching their artifact and writing a historical fiction story based off it.
The students created a variety of stories, including prose, poems, and comic-style stories with artwork. They were all combined into a book, titled Witness, that the students and their parents could treasure for years to come.
