Collections Assistant Caroline Walrich joined the Spungen Family Foundation in October 2025. She manages the physical and digital collections for accessibility to education. Caroline holds an undergraduate degree in History from Iowa State University (2020). Her interests include Holocaust education and collections management, and conversation. Caroline enjoys collecting rocks and sea glass found around the Great Lakes.
The foundation utilizes CatalogIt as a Collections Management System (CMS) to organize our artifacts digitally. Caroline focuses on cataloging, organizing, and preserving the collection. She records donation letters and loan information to mitigate risks. A large area of concern for preserving the postal Holocaust collection is ensuring the condition of items remains consistent through loans and exhibiting. Our CMS allows Caroline to report conditions of the artifact for record keeping. She strives to be as thorough as possible to maintain proper condition. Above all, Caroline deems consistency to be a top priority when cataloging to guarantee philatelists, scholars, and students can access the material with a concrete understanding of the collection.
